Annual Appeal vs. Campaign
While the Foundation conducts an Annual Appeal to assist Regina with its annual operating budget, we also oversee large campaigns, cultivate planned and deferred giving and promote the growth of Regina’s three endowments (Tuition Assistance, Teacher, and General Endowment).
Endowments are funds that “keep on giving,” as interest income from the endowments will be given to Regina into perpetuity. Gifts to the Fueling the Fire of Faith Campaign supported the specific long-term objectives of the campaign. On-going budgetary and ministry needs continue to exist despite the successful efforts of the campaign. Campaign gifts are not the same as an Annual Appeal gift. Annual Appeal gifts help provide funds to programs and priorities that do not receive regular designated support, but are recurring annual needs.
Annual Appeal vs. Special Event Fundraising
The terms development and fundraising are often used synonymously. But, development goes beyond fundraising. Short-term fundraising usually involves asking people for donations by purchasing a product, participation in a special event, gaming or gambling activities. Development is the process foundations use to build capacity and sustainability. It means the Regina Foundation board and staff are concerned not only with raising money, but doing so in a way that develops reliable sources of income that will sustain Regina through the realization of its long-term mission and vision. This fund development involves building relationships with benefactors, relating their gifts to the purpose and programs of Regina; and ultimate fiscal and moral accountability to our donors. A part of the Foundation’s strategic development plan is the coordination of fundraising, marketing, communications, and volunteer management.
